Golden Lys Company

Born from a freelance company of knights, the Golden Lys Company is a disciplined mercenary brotherhood with deep martial traditions. Originally from the west, they are now settled and employed from their base of operation located at the center of the world, at a strategic crossroads between the warring powers of the Empire, Irendille, Andore, and Arganne. As new sellswords arrive from across the sea, seeking a quick fortune, they rise in rank into seasoned men-at-arms by demonstrating martial prowess and strategy. As they travel from battlefields to battlefields, they collect pay in solars and grow in renown. For the traveler seeking purpose and advancement amidst the Grande Bataille, the Golden Lys Company offers more than just a contract; it offers the prestige of a grand tradition and the promise to be the spear in the sun, at the forefront of all conflicts.

By tradition, the Golden Lys Company is largely composed of initiate sellswords. The best among them might aspire to be invited to squire and become a knight of the Royal Company, an elite circle of warriors that form the spearhead of the brotherhood.

The Golden Lys Company’s mercenaries show a penchant for medium to heavy armor, spears, great weapons and shields. Leadership and strategy are prized.

corsairs of the seven seas

We are daughters and sons of sailors, cooks, helmsmen, and boatswains. Raised on the docks, in the bustle of the ports and the creaking of ships, we grew up with the tides. Becoming dockworkers, shipwrights, fishermen, harpooners, and whalers, the ocean rocked our youth and forged our character.

Yet daily life does not flow like the calm current of a river. Driven by the hardships of a difficult life, or simply called by the open sea, we cast off our moorings and set upon the waves. From ship to ship, from port to port, we became smugglers, fences, forgers, and cutthroats. Before we even realized it, we had become pirates.

But we are not mere treasure hunters or common raiders of galleons. We are daring seafarers, clever strategists, and opportunistic traders. We live intensely and celebrate our victories by sharing our spoils around a well-laden table. We are free—and proud to be so.

Through our adventures, we discovered a land where the resounding call of freedom echoes. A kingdom where all are welcome and life is good. A nation where opportunities bloom as quickly as palm trees, and where purses fill as swiftly as they empty. The Golden Isles of Carcosa. It is in these waters that we have dropped anchor. Free to sail and to dream wherever the sea may carry us: we are the Corsairs of the Seven Seas.

the Northern Clans

When the world was reshaped by the Innomable’s severing of Nasgaroth, the proud houses and warbands of the northern shores were cast out as displaced clans. For years, they survived by raiding the rugged coastlines of Berkwald, weakened by their own bitter rivalries and the struggle for existence. This era of fragmentation only ended when they found strength and honor in unity under the first great Jarl, together forging a new home and a shared identity in the northern lands.

Now, that foundational reign has come to an end. As the first great Jarl passes into legend, a grand competition is set to begin to determine who among the united clans will rise to lead. This tradition is born of a culture deeply rooted in Viking, Nordic, and spiritual values, where leadership is not a birthright but a status earned through merit and collective effort.

By tradition, the northern clans is composed of warriors with an affinity for viking, nordic, clannish and spiritual culture. The northern clans have a special mechanism for leadership. When part of the northern clans, participants may form their own clans with a personalised sigil, comprising 4 to 8 people. Every year, during the great battle, a great contest will be held over several days between the clans, including martial, athletic and artistic challenges. The clan who triumph over others will get to lead the northern clans during the next year.
